Fitting in.
It was fun to be back home in Alabama especially at Christmas. Kinda being the center of attention didn't hurt either. Two days till Christmas. My grandmother had been getting ready for the holiday. Homemade cakes and pies not to mention homemade candy and peanut brittle. Keep in mind this was just one household. We had a bunch of places to visit. Ah Christmas!!!
Christmas day was cold and overcast. Nothing at all like Catalina. Still it was good to be among loved ones at that time of year. Those were the times that Christmas wasn't surrounded by debate and controversy. Not much had changed since my family had move away. Biggest problem was fitting in with the other kids. Not so much with close family but rather our age group in general.
